Government has explained Najib's conditional pardon, says Fahmi

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil clarified that Prime Minister Najib Razak's conditional pardon, allowing him to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest until August 23, 2028, is a royal prerogative exercised by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim. This decision is outlined in Article 42 of the Federal Constitution, detailing the Agong's powers.

Fahmi emphasized that the Pakatan Harapan government's statements, including those from Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh, who sits on the Pardons Board, are sufficient explanations. He addressed public concerns after mixed reactions to the pardon, highlighting that the decision was both made and implemented by the Agong. Fahmi also noted improvements in the physical infrastructure of Kampung Tebat Kering, which received a new, sturdy surau built using Industrialised Building System (IBS) technology.

This project, part of the Madani Adopted Village initiative, also upgraded community halls in Kampung Bukit Temensu and Tebat, allocating nearly RM1 million to serve as hubs for community activities and social engagement.
