Gachagua: Elders who coronated Kindiki are all fake

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has criticized the efforts to politically divide the Mt Kenya region, stating that they have failed. This assertion came after a symbolic event at Kirigiti Stadium in Kiambu, where Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku returned a symbolic axe to elders during a unity ceremony. Gachagua suggested that this action was a sign that the divisionist attempts had met with the residents' rejection.

He accused President William Ruto of employing Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and Ruku to implement a plan to split the region into Mt Kenya East and West. However, the region's residents, who have historically, culturally, and socially been united, rejected this division, according to Gachagua. The elders endorsed Kindiki as the region's spokesperson and representative but emphasized their commitment to preserving unity among the Agikuyu, Ameru, Aembu, and Ambeere communities.

Gachagua warned that the political contest over Mt Kenya could escalate to attempts to divide the former Central Province, emphasizing that these efforts would not succeed.
