Election Commissioner S S Sandhu, other top officials get notices under SIR

Several high-ranking officials and retired bureaucrats have been notified by Election Commissioner Dr Sukhbir Singh Sandhu in connection with the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. This includes notable figures such as Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Sebi Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey, Principal Scientific Advisor Ajay Kumar Sood, Health Secretary Punya Salila, and Fertiliser Secretary Rajat Kumar Mishra.

These individuals are among those who were not mapped with the last SIR revision. Additionally, Expenditure Secretary Vumlunmang Vualnam and Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) K Sanjay Murthy, a former IAS officer, have received notices for name discrepancies. The notices also cover cases of "parent name mismatch" for CAG Murthy.

Retired bureaucrats like former NITI Aayog vice-chairman Arvind Panagariya and former JNU vice-chancellor Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar are also included in the list of those notified for discrepancies. The notices were issued to voters at the New Moti Bagh polling booth, which is situated near the official residences of many of the top bureaucrats involved.

In total, 593 individuals received notices at this booth, and among the 33 lakh electors receiving notices across Delhi, prominent political figures such as Delhi CM Rekha Gupta, former CM Arvind Kejriwal, New Delhi MP Bansuri Swaraj, and former BJP chief Virendra Kumar Sachdeva were also affected.
