Education Ministry to revisit 2006 tuition centre ownership provisions, proposal goes to Cabinet next week

The Ministry of Education (MOE) plans to seek cabinet approval next week to review the ownership rules for tuition centres in Malaysia. The proposal will be submitted following concerns over the current provisions laid out in the 2006 Private Education Institutions Policy Book. The ministry acknowledges the various views on this matter and remains open to input from all parties.

MOE believes the education sector should remain accessible to anyone willing to contribute to the development and learning of Malaysian children. The ministry will present a proposal to review the tuition centre ownership structure for consideration by the Cabinet next week, expressing appreciation for the contributions of tuition centre operators over the years and committing to continue working with all parties in the best interests of Malaysian children's education.
