Dubai student selected for inaugural Global Youth Council Fellowship

Dubai-based Emirati student Moza Ahmed, chairperson of Dubai’s inaugural Students Council, has been chosen for the inaugural Global Youth Council Fellowship. This prestigious program offers her the chance to represent the UAE alongside an elite group of youth from around the globe. The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) announced the selection on Sunday.

Moza, currently in the 12th grade at the American School of Creative Science in Nad Al Sheba, has been an active leader in her school community since her high school years. She played a pivotal role in establishing Dubai’s first Students Council, which serves as a direct channel between students and KHDA, enabling them to share their perspectives and contribute to shaping educational experiences.

The council, comprised of 16 students from various private schools across Dubai, was formed to foster student voice and participation. Moza's selection marks the culmination of a year spent advocating for student voice and participation through the council. Reflecting on her experience, Moza emphasized the importance of representing nearly 400,000 students, highlighting the diversity of voices, perspectives, and aspirations within Dubai’s student community.

Serving as chairperson of the council allowed her to engage with viewpoints beyond her own school community, enhancing her ability to advocate for issues affecting students across Dubai’s diverse education landscape. As a founding member of the Global Youth Council, Moza will contribute to the program’s development during its initial stage, focusing on leadership, vision, community engagement, communication, and collaboration skills. She will share Dubai’s experience and learn from young people worldwide.
