Dubai completes Oud Metha Road project in latest drive to combat congestion

Dubai concluded the expansion of the Oud Metha Road and Al Asayel Street, a project designed to alleviate traffic congestion in one of the city's most busy routes. The initiative involved constructing four crucial intersections, four bridges, two tunnels, and an additional 14 kilometers of road to facilitate smoother travel for numerous motorists.

The Roads and Transport Authority of Dubai revealed that the project would raise Oud Metha Road's capacity from 10,400 vehicles per hour to 15,600, and aim to cut average travel times from 20 minutes to just five. This development, anticipated to benefit 420,000 residents by 2030, is part of the broader Sheikh Rashid Corridor Development Project, established to cater to the expanding communities in the historic core of the city.

Mattar Al Tayer, the director general of the Roads and Transport Authority, emphasized the significance of the road enhancement plan in July. He noted that the project supports several service, residential, and development areas, notably Zabeel, Al Jaddaf, Oud Metha, and Umm Hurair, as well as Latifa Hospital and Al Wasl Club.
