Fahmi Fadzil, the communication head of Pakatan Harapan (PH), stated at the 2025 Kementerian Komunikasi Kampung Angkat Madani in Surau Kampung Tebat Kering, Kuala Pilah, that the current political dynamics allow for various forms of competition, including taking into account the unique characteristics of each state's political landscape. He emphasized that this dynamic may change for Pakatan Harapan.

Fadzil expressed that there have been no discussions regarding collaboration between PH and Bersatu at this time. Earlier, Bersatu's President Muhyiddin Yassin indicated that the party would not withdraw from the political coalition for the 16th General Election (PRU16) but rather as part of a coalition government. The communication minister also mentioned that the conditional pardon for former Prime Minister Najib Razak is subject to Article 42 of the Constitution, which is an absolute power and the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's prerogative.

The government has released a statement on this issue, with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Deputy Prime Minister Hannah Yeoh representing the government in the pardon authority. Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim granted the conditional pardon to Najib to serve the remaining term of his sentence in custody at home until August 23, 2028, provided he pays a RM50 million fine.

The Legal Aid Department (BHEUU) of the Prime Minister's Department explained that the decision was made at the 64th Lembaga Pengampunan meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Labuan, and Putrajaya.
