Chad Gilbert, the guitarist and co-founder of the punk rock band New Found Glory, has passed away at the age of 45. The musician had been fighting cancer since 2021, when doctors discovered a rare tumor on his adrenal gland, initially thought to be a pheochromocytoma. However, the cancer had already metastasized to his spine, lungs, back, and brain, necessitating numerous surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation treatments.

In April 2026, Gilbert's prognosis was downgraded to stage 4 adrenocortical carcinoma, a particularly aggressive form of adrenal cancer.

The news of Gilbert's death was shared by his wife, Lisa, and New Found Glory on social media on Sunday. The statement expressed their deep sorrow and gratitude for the short time they had with the beloved musician. Gilbert's wife and mother were by his side as he took his final breaths, exactly as he had wished.
