Carrick has faith in VAR despite derby error

Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick remains confident in the video assistant referee (VAR) system despite an error that cost his team the Manchester derby. Referee's body Pro Ref issued an apology to United within three hours of the game's conclusion, but Carrick feels the gesture lacks significance.

Referee chief Howard Webb has criticized the officiating standards, stating the officials were fixated on a potential offside against Haaland and missed Fernandez's position. Carrick acknowledged the one-off incident's substantial impact on the game, emphasizing that he still has faith in the VAR system. Additionally, Carrick backed young defender Leny Yoro, despite his underwhelming performance in a 3-2 Carabao Cup loss to Brighton, vowing to maintain faith in Yoro's potential despite the setback.
