Canada men fall 3-1 to Cuba in Olympic volleyball qualifier

Moncton - Canada's men's volleyball team suffered a 3-1 loss to Cuba in the final of the continental qualifications for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics on Saturday. The Canadian team had previously won against Mexico 3-0 in the semifinal match. Stephen Maar was the leading scorer for Canada with 22 points, including 20 attacks and two blocks.

Captain Eric Loeppky contributed 14 points. Marlon Yant Herrera led Cuba with 25 points. Canada, Cuba, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic qualified for the four-team tournament based on their performances at the recent NORCECA volleyball championship, where Canada finished as runners-up to the Olympic host nation, the United States.
