Aleema Khan detained in Lahore under 3-MPO

Imran Khan's sister, Aleema Khan, was recently arrested under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Ordinance for a period of 30 days, as per an order issued by Lahore Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali Ijaz on September 20. The detention order was based on recommendations from Lahore police and intelligence officials who claimed that Aleema Khan and her brother, Muhammad Ameer, posed a threat to public safety and the maintenance of public order.

The order cited multiple cases registered against the two and alleged that they had encouraged workers to damage public and government property, incited the public through social media and public meetings, and raised slogans against the government and state institutions.

The order also allowed Aleema Khan and Muhammad Ameer to submit representations against the detention to the provincial government, but described their detention as necessary to maintain law and order in Lahore. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan vehemently condemned Aleema Khan's detention, stating that it could potentially fuel tension and calling for her immediate release.

He had assured PTI supporters that the party's planned protest on September 27 would remain peaceful, aimed at pursuing the party's constitutional and political demands without violence or confrontation.
