테크포럼·해커톤·경연대회…삼성·엘지 “AI 인재 찾습니다”

South Korean companies are actively participating in various events centered around artificial intelligence (AI) and algorithms, both domestically and internationally, in order to secure relevant talent and technological ideas. On October 18, Samsung Electronics held the '2026 Tech Forum' in Mountain View, California, USA, where around 80 top executives and leaders attended to discuss recent technological trends.

Samsung Electronics' Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for Product (DX) emphasized the integration of next-generation artificial intelligence technology and robotics, which will shape the new paradigm for Samsung Electronics.

Meanwhile, LG Electronics organized the 'LG Aimers (AI Makers) Hackathon' from October 19 to 21 in Ilsan, Gyeonggi-do. The event aimed to encourage young people to tackle industrial challenges through AI technology, with 3,393 participants and 96 finalists. The final challenge was to develop an AI model that predicts the success rate of pitching a baseball, using statistical indicators rather than traditional outcome-based metrics.

Major subsidiaries such as LG AI Research, LG Electronics, LG Plus, and LG CNS participated in a recruitment fair the day after the hackathon, offering employment opportunities to the winners. LG CNS also concluded the 'Optimization Grand Challenge 2026,' a mathematical optimization competition held in 55 countries and 1,448 teams, with the winning team from Japan developing an algorithm to efficiently place hundreds of blocks in a limited workspace while considering process order and deadline.
