Abamkrom Islamic Basic School appeals for ICT tools to boost digital literacy

The Headteacher of Abamkrom Islamic Basic School in the Eastern Region's Upper West Akyem District, Rufai Issah, has called upon the government and kind-hearted individuals to provide computers and other Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools. Although the school has seen an improvement with a newly constructed classroom block, he emphasizes that inadequate ICT equipment remains a pressing issue.

Mr. Issah believes that access to computers and digital tools would improve teaching and learning, as well as help students develop practical digital skills at a young age. He also notes that ICT facilities would enable pupils to express their creativity, develop their ideas, and prepare better for a technology-driven world.

During the Ebro and Me Boafo Foundation's philanthropic activities, they presented a six-unit classroom block and additional facilities to the school. The Headteacher thanked the foundation for their contribution, praising the new facilities for creating a safer and more conducive environment for students and teachers. However, he stresses that further assistance is needed, particularly in the area of ICT, to complement the new infrastructure and provide a more comprehensive learning experience.

Me Boafo Foundation's Executive Director, Dr. Emmanuel Obiri Addo, explained that the foundation's intervention was triggered by the poor condition of the school's previous facilities. The old structure had become dilapidated, necessitating the construction of a new building to ensure pupils have a safe and suitable space for teaching and learning.

As part of their philanthropic efforts, the foundation built and handed over the six-unit classroom block and supporting facilities to the school. Dr. Addo urges the students to utilize the enhanced learning environment, study diligently, and make the most of the provided resources.

Present at the handover ceremony, several dignitaries expressed their enthusiasm for the school's transformation. They encouraged students to take their education seriously, stay focused on their studies, and make the best use of the new facilities. Furthermore, they implore other organizations and individuals to support the school, especially by supplying the necessary ICT equipment, to create more opportunities for the pupils and enhance their learning outcomes.
