3 new bus routes for Tengah, Woodlands; interim shuttles for delayed Jurong Region Line to launch from mid-2027

Two of the new bus services, 873/873M and 874, are set to launch on Oct 25. The third new service, 968, will support the upcoming Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System Link, scheduled to open in 2027. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced that the 968 bus will operate from the Woodlands Temporary Bus Interchange, linking residents to Woodlands North, Woodlands South, and Admiralty MRT stations. Siow also mentioned that existing services 674 and 861 will be improved with additional trips to reduce waiting times.
These new services and improvements are part of the Bus Connectivity Enhancement Programme, introduced in July 2024 to boost bus connectivity, especially in newer estates farther from MRT stations. The program aims to provide alternative transportation options along high-ridership rail lines. The Government has allocated nearly $1 billion to enhance bus services across Singapore, with 37 new or extended services and 76 services beefed up by adding capacity, improving frequency, or expanding coverage introduced islandwide so far.
