2027: Explain how fuel subsidy plan will work, APC tells Atiku

The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council has urged Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, to explain the legal and financial aspects of his proposed production subsidy for locally refined petrol. The council's spokesman, Dele Alake, highlighted the proposal's need for a clear framework under the Petroleum Industry Act 2021 and a plan for funding the intervention.

Atiku previously suggested a subsidy could come in the form of preferentially priced crude for domestic refineries, but the cost and funding of such a proposal remain unspecified.
