17,092 Ganesh And Gauri Idols Immersed Across Thane On Sixth Day As Civic Body Ensures Smooth Festive Arrangements

On the sixth day of festivities, Thane witnessed the immersion of a staggering 17,092 Lord Ganesh and Goddess Gauri idols in a disciplined and serene environment. The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) orchestrated comprehensive arrangements at numerous immersion ghats, enabling citizens to bid farewell to 16,053 Ganesh idols and 1,039 Gauri idols safely.

Majiwada-Manpada emerged as the leading ward in terms of immersion count, with 3,758 idols bid their final farewell, followed closely by Naupada-Kopri (2,809 immersions), Wagle (2,749), Kalwa (2,491), and Vartak Nagar (2,227). Additionally, 829 idols found their place in Diva, 612 in Uthalsar, 348 in Mumbra, and 230 in Lokmanya-Savarkar.

To facilitate a hassle-free and eco-friendly immersion process, the TMC established a multi-tiered infrastructure across the city. Citizens could choose from immersion tanks, designated idol acceptance centers, artificial ponds, natural creek ghats, and mobile immersion vehicles. Artificial ponds emerged as the most popular choice, accounting for 10,207 immersions.

Subsequently, 3,726 idols were immersed in tanks, 1,938 at traditional creek ghats, 158 through acceptance centers, and 24 via mobile units. The decentralized approach ensured smooth operations throughout the day, allowing devotees to celebrate their faith with ease and peace.
