10-Year-Old Boy Seriously Injured In Leopard Attack Near Forest In MP’s Dhar

Dhar in Madhya Pradesh witnessed a harrowing incident when a 10-year-old boy, Akhil son of Phool Singh, was gravely injured during a leopard attack near Bakhtala village. Akhil was grazing goats alongside other children when the leopard reportedly emerged from the bushes, swiping at him and sinking its teeth into his back, causing severe wounds at three locations.

The horrifying scene was witnessed by passersby and villagers who immediately rushed to Akhil's aid. The aggressive leopard fled into the forest, leaving the boy in critical condition. Akhil was subsequently transferred to the Dhar hospital and later referred to a government hospital in Gandhwani due to the severity of his injuries.

Upon their arrival, doctors took immediate steps to provide first aid, after which Akhil's family admitted him to a private hospital in Dhar. His father, Phool Singh, expressed optimism about his son's condition, stating that Akhil was improving and was not in immediate danger. Following the incident, a team from the Forest Department promptly reached the scene and discovered three newborn leopard cubs approximately 15-20 feet away from where Akhil was attacked.

The rescuers swiftly rescued the cubs and relocated them to a secure location, suggesting that the leopard's aggression might have been provoked by the presence of her young. The villagers had previously reported multiple sightings of leopards in the vicinity and had been clamoring for effective measures to prevent such unfortunate occurrences.
