1,200 Km From Home, Lost Punjab Pilgrim Reunited With Family After ChatGPT Search

A 200-kilometer journey from his home in Punjab brought Chaman Lal, an elderly pilgrim, back to his family after an extensive search involving ChatGPT and online resources. Chaman, who lives in Fatehgarh Gujran village near Ludhiana, had traveled to Amritsar on September 11 to visit the Golden Temple as part of the Punjab government's Chief Minister Pilgrimage Scheme.

Due to memory issues, he became lost and ended up in Gaya, Bihar, where he was found by a local named Neeraj. Neeraj took Chaman home, provided him sustenance and shelter, and kept him with his family for four days while he worked to locate Chaman's relatives. Using the village name as his primary clue, Neeraj searched the internet and employed ChatGPT to pinpoint the location, eventually identifying Fatehgarh Gujran near Machhiwara Sahib.

After three days of searching, Neeraj traveled with Chaman to Ludhiana and then to Machhiwara. Locals in Machhiwara recognized Chaman from a photograph, leading to his identification. Chaman's grandson, Sukhchain Singh, arrived to confirm his identity. The family had been actively searching for their loved one in Amritsar and shared photographs online.

Upon Chaman's safe return, the family welcomed Neeraj with garlands and gifts, expressing their heartfelt gratitude for his role in bringing their family member back home.
