According to the survey, conducted in the Middle East, Turkiye, and Africa (META) region, 88% of respondents have helped elderly relatives or friends with technology on their devices.
Nearly half of survey participants reported providing regular assistance, while 38% help occasionally upon request. Installing applications was the most common type of support, with 52% of respondents helping older people download and set up apps. Social media account management followed closely at 50%, highlighting the importance of digital communication tools for seniors.
The survey also found that many older users need help with sensitive digital activities. About 43% of respondents assist elderly relatives with online banking and transactions, while 41% help configure privacy settings and 40% support the use of e-government services. Despite the increasing cybersecurity threats targeting older internet users, only 27% of respondents said they help elderly relatives install security software.
