Yogi Govt Deploys 606 Teams In 25 Districts To Prevent Lumpy Virus

Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is spearheading a comprehensive prevention and control campaign against lumpy skin disease in Uttar Pradesh, as reported by additional chief secretary Mukesh Mesharam. Six hundred and six teams have been assigned across 25 districts to intensify surveillance, treatment, and vaccination efforts in affected and potentially affected areas. Special emphasis is placed on ring vaccination, isolation of infected animals, vector control, disinfection, and cleanliness to curb the disease.

Vaccination campaigns are being conducted on a large scale, with regular reviews to ensure effectiveness. Veterinarians are required to be present at veterinary hospitals on time, and village camps are organized to accelerate vaccination efforts. Training is provided to Pashu Sakhis, paravets, and Maitris for comprehensive awareness. Public meetings are organized along with cattle rearers and gaushala operators, and information on preventive measures is disseminated widely.

As of now, 16,08,548 animals have been vaccinated across the state. However, 9,003 animals have reported lumpy skin disease infection. Department teams monitor animal health by visiting villages, educating livestock owners about symptoms, preventive measures, and the need to isolate infected animals. Immediate veterinary team activation occurs upon receiving suspected case information.

Emphasizing vaccination as a crucial control measure, the department conducts campaigns in affected and vulnerable areas. Over 16 lakh animals have been vaccinated so far. The department advises livestock owners to maintain cleanliness, prevent vector insects, and keep infected animals separate from healthy ones. Immediate medical examination is urged if lumps, fever, skin lesions, or other abnormalities are observed.

The focus remains on timely identification, effective surveillance, vaccination, and treatment to protect livestock and minimize economic losses.
