What led to Karnataka Public Service Commission chairman’s ouster: Leaked papers, a job for his daughter

The Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) chairman, Shivashankarappa S Sahukar, has been suspended amid two major recruitment scandals. The first involves allegations of nepotism and corruption regarding the recruitment of his daughter, Suma Sahukar, to the position of industrial extension officer under the OBC quota. Suma allegedly used a fake income certificate claiming an annual family income of Rs 40,000, while her father's declared income was more than 100 times that amount.

The second scandal pertains to the recruitment of 400 veterinary doctors, where 29 candidates, including an alleged relative of the chairman, were accused of receiving the question paper a day before the exam. Both cases are currently under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and are before the Karnataka High Court.
