Western Beaver football puts together complete effort against Riverside

Western Beaver High School football demonstrated a complete effort in their Week 4 game against Riverside, overcoming a challenging non-conference schedule to secure a 28-10 victory at Rich Niedbala Field. Head coach Ron Busby acknowledged the early season's difficulties, stating that the team was "battle-tested" for the conference opener.

Western Beaver's defense held strong, limiting Riverside to just 14 points, while their offense delivered their best performance of the season. Senior running back Wyatt Sparbanie stood out, rushing for 53 yards on the game's first scored drive and scoring on a 53-yard run. Riverside struggled without their leading rusher Mason Holler, who was out with an injury, and key penalties on offense hindered their progress.

Despite these setbacks, Western Beaver maintained their intensity in defense, with senior linebacker Braeden Mayo recording several crucial tackles. The team's success continues as they prepare for their next MAC Conference game against New Brighton on Sept. 25.
