URCS participates in cleanup efforts following Russian airstrikes in Sumy, Odesa

The Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) stepped in to aid victims of Russian airstrikes in Sumy and Odesa. Emergency response teams from both locations collaborated with other emergency services to address the aftermath of the strikes.

In Sumy, URCS volunteers conducted door-to-door checks in a damaged residential building. They identified victims, provided immediate first aid, and offered psychological support. One injured individual was promptly transported to the hospital.

Meanwhile, in Odesa, URCS teams joined forces with other rescue services to offer assistance following Russian attacks. Volunteers patrolled the area, locating victims and providing first aid. They also extended psychological support to individuals experiencing acute stress reactions.

A Russian guided airstrike in Sumy resulted in three deaths and 15 injuries. The explosion shattered nearly 500 windows in three residential buildings and one educational institution, causing significant damage to more than 30 cars.

In Odesa, a double drone strike on an 11-story administrative building left 10 people injured, including two rescue workers. The first attack caught people sheltering in place, and a subsequent strike occurred while rescue workers and emergency services were already on the scene. Over 70 firefighters worked tirelessly to extinguish the blaze that engulfed several floors of the building.
