Troops foil kidnapping attempt, rescue three victims in Katsina

Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have successfully rescued three kidnapped victims following an attempted kidnapping along the Dandume-Damari axis in Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State. The rescue operation was triggered by a distress call regarding the abduction of civilians on a road on Friday, which led to the rapid deployment of troops to the area.

Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer for Operation FANSAN YAMMA, reported in a statement that the soldiers came into contact with the terrorists and engaged them, compelling them to flee into the surrounding bushes. During this encounter, the terrorists abandoned their victims and a black Volkswagen Golf vehicle. Following this, troops pursued the fleeing terrorists, eventually rescuing three individuals who were later escorted and released to continue their journey.

The identities of the rescued victims are Abubakar Abdulkadir, aged 25; Mansir Idris, aged 26; and Abubakar Aliyu, aged 21. No casualties were reported among the troops during the operation. Danja emphasized that Operation FANSAN YAMMA is committed to safeguarding civilians, thwarting terrorist activities, and denying criminals the freedom of action within its operational area. He also appealed to the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest security agency.
