Army dismisses Boko Haram, ISWAP attack alert as fake

The Nigerian Army has declared a recent intelligence alert regarding impending attacks by Boko Haram and ISWAP to be fake and unverified. Colonel Appolonia Anele, the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, stated that the document circulating on social media and other platforms did not originate from the Nigerian Army. She emphasized that the Army was aware of the document's circulation and had increased vigilance across its formations to deter any attacks on vulnerable institutions.

Anele cautioned the public against accepting the document as an official Army security alert. The Army's denial of the alert followed the circulation of a purportedly signed document by A.M. Sodiq, claiming coordinated attacks on churches, schools, NYSC orientation camps, and other locations, with a possible link to the resumption of the 2026/2027 academic year.

However, the Army firmly denied any involvement in the creation of the document, assuring Nigerians that security forces remained alert and took necessary measures to safeguard schools, places of worship, and other public facilities.
