Three Blade Attacks In 24 Hours Leave Three Injured, Raise Patrolling Concerns In Bhopal

Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh: A series of three knife attacks over the course of a single day has left three individuals seriously injured, prompting concerns about the effectiveness of police patrolling and surveillance in the city. The incidents occurred in various locations, including Ashoka Garden, Bogda Pul, and Ratibad, where miscreants resorted to using knives, swords, and sticks in disputes over bike parking and minor arguments.

Police officials have stated that patrol teams are deployed across all areas at night, but the repeated violent incidents in crowded and isolated areas have raised doubts about whether active criminals are being effectively monitored. Over the past month, more than three dozen knife-attack cases have been registered in Bhopal, along with a sharp increase in attempted-murder cases.

The police commissioner emphasized that patrolling has been increased in sensitive areas and all police station in-charges have been directed to strengthen surveillance. However, residents have alleged that police presence arrives after a dispute has escalated, and offenders often manage to flee before police intervention. Bhopal reportedly has around 603 active knife-wielding offenders, with distribution across various police stations.
