Stray bullet kills 400-level student during land dispute in Niger

A 400-level student at Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai in Niger State, named Isma'il Ishaq Magaji, passed away following a stray bullet incident during a land dispute in his hometown of Wawa, in the Borgu Local Government Area of the state. The university's Deputy Registrar, Information, Alhaji Baba Akote, announced the tragic news in a statement to the News Agency of Nigeria, quoting the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mohammed Sulaiman, who expressed deep condolences to Magaji's family, friends, classmates and associates.

Sulaiman called the incident distressing and a painful loss to the entire university community, praying for the deceased's forgiveness, eternal rest, and strength for his loved ones. He also urged the communities involved in the dispute to engage in dialogue, exercise restraint, and prioritize peaceful coexistence to prevent further loss of life and unnecessary bloodshed.
