Stay out of Sabah, Sarawak’s affairs, PAS info chief told

The vice-president of Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah, Masiung Banah, has advised PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari to refrain from meddling in the political affairs of Sabah and Sarawak. The government is set to allocate more parliamentary seats to the two states, in line with the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63). Gagasan Rakyat vice-president Masiung Banah criticized Fadhli for attempting to create division between the Bornean states and Putrajaya by commenting on the seat allocation move.

Banah asserted that Sabah political parties respect their counterparts in the peninsula, including PAS, but found Fadhli's remarks unacceptable. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced on September 11 that the government will amend the constitution to grant Sabah and Sarawak additional parliamentary seats, as per MA63. Fadhli had warned Sabah and Sarawak leaders not to "plunge down the ravine with Anwar."

Banah urged Fadhli to uphold PAS's integrity and allow Sabah and Sarawak's leaders to make the right decisions for their states. The people of Borneo are known for their spirit of unity and mutual respect, despite having differing political views.
