Stars Abroad: Kudus provides first Premier League assist as Spurs fall to Villa

The inaugural season of the Women's Andhra Premier League (WAPL) T20 cricket tournament commenced at the ACA International Stadium in Mangalagiri on Saturday, attracting significant attention. Organized by the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) to discover and develop promising young women cricketers, the tournament consists of 13 matches over a span of seven days at the Mangalagiri stadium.

Four teams - Rayalaseema Gen Stars, Godavari Golden Eagles, Amaravati E-Champions, and Vizag Fire Birds - are participating in the event.

Nara Brahmani, Executive Director of Heritage Foods, graced the opening ceremony as the chief guest and officially launched the tournament. She was joined by Mithali Raj, former India women's cricket team captain and WAPL brand ambassador, who unveiled the tournament trophy. Brahmani emphasized that the tournament serves as an ideal platform for women cricketers to demonstrate their abilities and prove their worth, highlighting that the participating players will become role models for upcoming generations.

The opening match took place on Saturday afternoon, with Rayalaseema Gen Stars defeating Godavari Golden Eagles, having chased down a target of 117 runs. The second match saw Amaravati E-Champions triumph over Vizag Fire Birds in the evening. Notable attendees included Kesineni Sivanath, president of the Andhra Cricket Association; Sana Satish Babu, ACA secretary; Sujay Krishna Ranga Rao, chairman of the Andhra Premier League Governing Council, and other officials.
