Nienaber coy on next move

Former Springbok coach Jacques Nienaber has remained tight-lipped about his future with Leinster, stating that his next move is uncertain. Nienaber, who joined Leinster following South Africa's 2023 World Cup victory, is embarking on his fourth season as the Irish province's head coach. However, his future has become a topic of discussion with head coach Leo Cullen set to resign at the end of the 2026-27 season, with Nienaber reportedly among those rumored to be considered for the role.

There is also speculation that Nienaber might return to the Springboks, with a six-month break clause reportedly included in his Leinster contract. When asked if the 2026-27 season might be his last in Dublin, Nienaber joked about the possibility but emphasized that no decision has been finalized. He stated, "You want me to go? You want me gone?

I can use that six-month thing …" before adding that an agreement between relevant parties still needs to be reached. Nienaber expressed that the process is ongoing, and a decision will be made once all stakeholders are aligned. He initially moved to Dublin to spend more time with his family, noting that Leinster's schedule involves 50 days away from home compared to the 150 to 170 nights away from family when coaching the Springboks.
