Some dissolved NSA board members could be reappointed – Kofi Adams

Minister for Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams has suggested that certain individuals who were part of the recently disbanded National Sports Authority (NSA) Governing Board may be reappointed when the new board is formed. President John Dramani Mahama officially dissolved the NSA board on September 2, 2026, as part of a broader decision impacting nine state institution boards.

The Presidential office announced that these impacted boards would be restructured at a later time. The 15-member NSA board, led by Dr Fred Awaah, was officially established in December 2025. When questioned about the next steps, Kofi Adams clarified that the dissolution does not automatically exclude all former members from the new board.

The Sports Minister indicated that some members could be reconsidered for their valuable expertise, while others might be re-nominated by the institutions they represented. "We will promptly establish the new board. Some individuals from the dissolved board might retain their position on the same board or another board due to their continued ability to contribute," said Kofi Adams.

"Moreover, some persons are currently serving institutions, and those entities may still trust them to represent them. Consequently, they might be re-nominated for the new board," he added. The upcoming NSA board is anticipated to be formed in the near future, with the current administration managing the Authority's daily functions during this transitional period.
