QU organises annual convocation for the 2026–2027 academic year

Qatar University (QU) held its annual convocation for the 2026–2027 academic year, recognizing distinguished members of the university community and alumni in academia, research, administration, and community service. The event aimed to celebrate achievements and contributions, fostering a culture of excellence in all aspects of university work.

Prof Ibrahim al-Kaabi, Prof Aiman Erbad, Dr Mai al-Naemi, and Dr Muna al-Marzouqi presented the awards. QU President Dr Omar al-Ansari addressed the gathering, stating that the new academic year brings renewed ambitions and opportunities, and the University is translating its vision into action. He highlighted the focus on enhancing the student experience and leveraging modern technologies like the smart academic adviser.

QU's 50th anniversary milestone was emphasized, with a Golden Jubilee planned to commemorate the journey and achievements. Awards were presented in Academic Awards, Outstanding Teaching, Outstanding Faculty Service, and Outstanding Administrative Employee categories. Dr Emad Abd-El-Moneim Awadallah and Prof Junaid Qadir received Outstanding Teaching and Outstanding Faculty Service awards, respectively.

In Administrative categories, recognitions were given to Saeed Rashid al-Athba, Jawaher Mohamed Fakhroo, Waleed Said Taher Abdelghany, and Fatema Abdulla Ali. The Research Excellence Awards were presented to Dr Susu Zughaier and Prof Mohammad al-Ghouti. Finally, the Young Alumnus Award was given to Shaikha Mohammed AlSubaey.
