QC-sponsored orphans sweep top three places in Qur’an competition

Somalia’s Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre has commended three Qatar Charity-sponsored Somali orphans for their outstanding performance in the international "Rofaqa" category of the Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani Qur’an Competition. The Prime Minister, who received the winners at his office in Mogadishu, lauded Qatar Charity's long-standing commitment to orphan care and education.

The international competition, held in Qatar and attended by hundreds of orphans from over 20 countries, saw the three Somali orphans claim the top three places in a full Qur’an memorisation category. Prime Minister Barre emphasized the significance of the orphans' success, describing it as a source of pride for the Somali people and highlighting the country's potential in Islamic and Qur'anic studies.

He urged the winners to continue memorising and teaching the Qur’an and promoting its values in their communities, while announcing that the three winners would receive free education under the same support provided to top performers in the national secondary school certificate examinations.
