President Prabowo says Indonesia must be strong to help Palestine

Jakarta, September 19 — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto expressed gratitude for Malaysia's offer to aid in combating forest fires across the nation, which includes the donation of an aircraft, three helicopters, and a specialized firefighting team. This offer was communicated after a cordial meeting between the President and Deputy Prime Minister Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi at the latter's residence in Bogor on Friday.

Prabowo underscored that while the fires are situated within Indonesia, their repercussions are felt by neighboring countries, hence the welcome reception of Malaysia's assistance. The President also mentioned that Indonesia has received offers of support from various nations, notably Japan, to assist in extinguishing the ongoing fires, specifically in Kalimantan.

Plans are being formulated by Indonesia for comprehensive preventative strategies to prevent recurrence of such incidents annually. Prior to this, Dr Ahmad Zahid had relayed the offer of assistance to Vice-President Gibran Rakabuming Raka during his four-day visit to Jakarta on Wednesday. Malaysia's contribution entails a Bombardier CL-415MP aircraft, three helicopters, and 52 personnel from the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma), Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA), and Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF).

Prabowo emphasized the significance of preserving and fortifying Malaysia-Indonesia relations, noting further discussions on cooperative ventures within the halal industry during their meeting.
