Police intercept vehicle conveying military uniforms, illicit drugs in Delta

A Delta State Police Command vehicle was stopped on September 18, 2026, for carrying military uniforms and suspected illicit drugs. The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, announced the incident to journalists. The operation, conducted by the Anti-Cult Unit in Asaba, was based on a tip-off about a suspicious vehicle traveling from Onitsha to Ondo State.

At 0450 hours, a green Toyota Sienna owned by Isaac Urji, a 45-year-old resident of Abia State, was intercepted. The search yielded cartons of Tramadol and other suspected illicit drugs, along with military clothing and gear. The suspect was promptly arrested, and an investigation was launched to trace the source and destination of the seized items and identify other individuals involved.

Separately, the police apprehended two suspected cultists and a 18-year-old UNICROSS student on September 18, 2026, in Ika South and Aniocha North Local Government Areas. During the operation, they recovered a gun, weapons, and electronic devices. The State Police Commissioner emphasized the command's commitment to combating kidnapping, cultism, and illegal firearm distribution, urging the public to provide credible information, which would be kept confidential.
