One-off RM1,000 allowance for Perkeso contributors taking jobs over 100km away
PETALING JAYA: The government will provide a one-off RM1,000 Mobility Assistance Allowance to Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) contributors who secure new jobs located more than 100km from their homes.
The Malaysian government has announced a one-time RM1,000 Mobility Assistance Allowance for Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) contributors who accept positions more than 100km away from their homes. This allowance will commence on October 1st, following amendments to the Employment Insurance System Act 2017. Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan made the announcement at the launch of the Mega iLINDUNGu Festival: Kesuma Bersama Rakyat.
The changes include increasing the Early Re-employment Allowance from 25% to 50% of the remaining unpaid Job Search Allowance for workers who return to employment early. Additionally, the daily Training Allowance will rise from RM10 to RM30, and the maximum Training Fee covered will increase from RM4,000 to RM7,000. These enhancements aim to provide better support for contributors to acquire new skills and adapt to the evolving job market.
Ramanan also noted that the support and protection provided under the Employment Insurance System for each contributor is capped at RM25,000, depending on eligibility and the benefits received.
