NIS, UNIBEN partner to train sports administrators

The National Institute for Sports and the University of Benin have entered into a partnership to train sports administrators in Nigeria. This Memorandum of Understanding agreement will see both institutions collaborate to produce professionals skilled in managing sports across the country. The arrangement covers National Diploma courses, certificate programs, and coaching programs.

A significant aspect of the partnership is the introduction of a degree program in Sports Administration at the University of Benin, aimed at providing young Nigerians with an academic pathway into sports industry careers.

During discussions, the University of Benin's Vice-Chancellor commended the Director-General of the National Institute for Sports for the positive changes underway. He highlighted the institute's leadership in repositioning and enhancing sports education and professional development. Tinubu also met with a French tycoon to explore investment opportunities in Nigeria's creative economy.

Additionally, he ordered the prosecution of officials involved in a tragic mining incident, emphasizing the importance of accountability and justice. August's salaries were fully paid to academic staff at the University of Benin, according to Tinubu. Shaibu emphasized that collaboration among institutions is vital for national development.

He believed the partnership would help bridge gaps in sports administration by equipping professionals with the necessary knowledge and skills to manage the sector effectively.
