Nikita Hand credits mother with saving her life

Nikita Hand, who successfully sued former UFC fighter Conor McGregor, has praised her mother for saving her life after the assault. In December 2018, McGregor allegedly raped Hand in a hotel room, for which she was awarded nearly €250,000 in damages by a jury. Upon the assault, Hand's mother insisted she report the rape and seek proper medical care.

Hand recounted that "Anything could have happened to me," including the risk of toxic shock syndrome. Her mother's insistence on seeking medical help ultimately "saved my life," as she explained. Now, Hand has two daughters, Alba and Freya, who help her cope with the trauma. Hand acknowledged living with the trauma from the assault and still experiences panic attacks.

Despite her struggles, she urged survivors of rape and sexual assault to come forward, emphasizing that they will be believed and that there is no need for them to speak out. Hand expressed no desire for reconciliation with McGregor, stating that she gave her evidence and the jury made the decision.
