Maharashtra TET leak: Question papers smuggled out in shoe insoles for ₹8,000, says chargesheet

Thane City police have filed a 3,500-page chargesheet alleging that two employees at a printing press in Agra smuggled out Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test question papers hidden inside shoe insoles for just ₹8,000. The mastermind, Bijendra Gupta, was previously linked to an Odisha paper leak. The accused include 16 suspects already arrested, with two remaining at large.

The leak was uncovered a day before the June 28 exam after a tip-off about three men attempting to sell the papers. Police caught the suspects in a trap in Kongaon and seized four sets of question papers which matched the official ones. The chargesheet names Gupta as the mastermind, previously implicated in an Odisha leak, and details how the press workers were paid ₹8,000 each for the theft.

A Special Investigation Team is probing the case, which also involves charges of cheating, criminal breach of trust, and criminal conspiracy under Indian law.
