Lowly Peterborough sack manager Williams

Peterborough United have dismissed manager Luke Williams following their recent poor performance in League One. The defeat by Doncaster Rovers on Saturday marked Williams' fourth consecutive league loss, leaving the team second from the bottom of the table. This run of five winless matches has left the side just one point above Wigan Athletic at the bottom of the standings.

Despite this dismal run, Williams managed to lead the team to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup for the first time since 2009, after a dramatic 3-3 draw against Barnsley, which was followed by a 7-6 penalty shootout victory. Williams, who previously managed Swansea City and Notts County, lasted only 11 months in the role, taking over in October 2025 from Darren Ferguson, who was in his fourth tenure with the club.

Although Peterborough finished 18th at the end of last season under Williams' leadership, the team's lackluster start this term resulted in his dismissal.
