Iran executes man accused of providing missile info to Israel

Iran executed a man accused of providing missile site information to Israeli intelligence, according to judicial authorities in Tehran on Saturday. The individual, identified as Hossein Pedaran, reportedly supplied details about missile sites located in Isfahan province to Mossad, Israel's national intelligence agency. The sentence was ultimately upheld by the country's Supreme Court.

The allegations of espionage and collaboration with Israeli intelligence against Pedaran had not been previously disclosed to the public. Rights groups have reported that Iran ranks second globally in the number of executions, following China. The execution of Pedaran occurred amid heightened arrests and death sentences in connection with the February conflict in the Middle East and the widespread protests that peaked in January.

Isfahan province, home to several Iranian nuclear facilities, has been a focal point of military operations throughout the war. In August, the judiciary also announced the execution of two other men accused of divulging the locations of sensitive military and security installations to Israel.
