Indian Railways approves Rs 736 crore projects in 4 states for safer train operations: Check details

The Indian Railways has approved infrastructure projects worth Rs 736 crore across four states to enhance train safety, signalling, electric traction, and road connectivity. These initiatives, valued at Rs 252 crore in Uttar Pradesh, Rs 209 crore in Maharashtra, Rs 142 crore in Andhra Pradesh, and Rs 133 crore in Gujarat, will bring significant improvements to the railway network.

Uttar Pradesh will invest Rs 252 crore in the Kavach 4.0 automatic train protection system along 607.7 route kilometers in the Lucknow Division. This advanced ATP system will help prevent train collisions and improve overall safety by automatically applying brakes when necessary.

Similarly, Maharashtra has allocated Rs 209 crore for the installation of electronic interlocking at seven stations in the Solapur Division. This state-of-the-art signalling system ensures that train movements are authorized only when the required route and safety conditions are met, minimizing the risk of accidents.

In Andhra Pradesh, Rs 142 crore will be utilized to upgrade the electric traction system on the 73-kilometer Savalyapuram-Guntur section. The project involves increasing the traction to 2×25 kV, which will bolster the railway network's power requirements and improve operational capacity.

Lastly, Gujarat has secured Rs 133 crore for the construction of a road over bridge (ROB) on the Udhna-Ukai Songadh section. This project aims to enhance road connectivity and reduce interactions between road traffic and railway operations at the location, promoting safer and more efficient travel for all users.
