‘If you’ve no business in Abuja return home’ – FCT CP vows to repatriate miscreants

The Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, has issued a warning to criminals causing trouble in the nation's capital to return to their home states or be repatriated. Speaking on Saturday while unveiling over 300 suspects arrested at various locations across Abuja, Sanusi revealed that some of the offenders had disguised as scavengers and stolen phones and handbags from unsuspecting residents by breaking into parked vehicles.

These criminals, who had no source of income, were also occupying uncompleted buildings in the capital. Sanusi stated, "If you don’t have a place to stay in FCT, go back to where you are coming from. We will not tolerate people in the presence of searching for livelihood to be committing crimes by snatching phones, breaking into people’s vehicles when parked."

The police would screen the suspects, and those with no legitimate means of livelihood would be repatriated to their respective states of origin. Uncompleted buildings were not meant for housing criminals, and the owners were not necessarily the ones harboring them. The CP vowed that the operation to eradicate crime from the FCT would continue, with raids on hideouts and scavenger points being a daily occurrence.
