Hodgkinson wins Athlos 800m as Richardson, Thomas shine

LONDON: Olympic 800m champion Keely Hodgkinson secured her season's victory at the Athlos meet in London by winning the women-only two-lap event. The 1:56.40 runner-up was overshadowed by the absence of her Swiss competitor Audrey Werro and Dutch rival Femke Broeders-Bol. Hodgkinson's Belgian teammate Georgia Hunter Bell narrowly missed out on the podium, finishing fourth in 4:19.43.

Polish Olympic champion Klaudia Kazimierska claimed the second place, bringing her head-to-head record against Hodgkinson to four wins to three this season. Kazimierska and Hunter Bell, who have dominated the 1,500m competitions this year, were among the top contenders. Athlos, a sports event created by Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, aims to provide a platform for trailblazing women athletes.

The event, which took place at StoneX Stadium in Barnet, saw seven events and a total prize pool of $65,000. American athletes dominated the competition, with Sha Carri Richardson winning the 100m, Gabby Thomas claiming the 200m, and Alaysha Johnson emerging victorious in the 100m hurdles, while Alyssa Jones won the long jump event.
