Hodgkinson powers to Athlos win in speed suit

Keely Hodgkinson, the 24-year-old Olympic 800m champion, expressed her nerves about wearing her ninja-inspired speedsuit at the women-only Athlos event in London. However, she believed the all-women's event provided the perfect platform to showcase the innovative Nike design. Making its international debut at StoneX Stadium, the event combined fashion, music, red carpets, and live DJs.

Emerging from pyrotechnics and strobe lighting to energetic music, Hodgkinson went on to dominate the 800 metres, finishing in one minute 56.40 seconds. She wore a black, Catwoman-style hooded kit complete with long sleeves, a backless panel, and a ponytail slot. The event honoured Hodgkinson for putting the speedsuit on display, mentioning that it was a mix of fashion, speed, and science, potentially shaping the future of athletics.

Despite the science suggesting that having her hair out could be aerodynamically advantageous, Hodgkinson insisted on keeping it out for the 'look good, feel good' balance. When asked about the likelihood of the style being worn at the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028, Hodgkinson hinted at the potential for the style to evolve with new technological advancements.
