Haze stretches from Tawau to Perak as 20 areas record unhealthy air, Kuching and Serian hit 169

As of 9am today, 20 areas across Malaysia are reporting unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings, according to the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal. The highest recorded reading stands at 169, observed in Kuching and IPD Serian, both in Sarawak. Six additional areas within Sarawak also experienced unhealthy API levels: Samarahan, Sri Aman, Sibu, Sarikei, Bintulu, and Kapit.

In Perak, two areas, Seri Manjung and Tanjung Malim, recorded unhealthy readings. Selangor's affected regions include Shah Alam, Petaling Jaya, and Johan Setia. In Kuala Lumpur, Batu Muda, Cheras, and Putrajaya are among the areas with unhealthy API levels. Nilai in Negeri Sembilan, Larkin in Johor, Bukit Rambai in Melaka, and Tawau in Sabah also registered unhealthy readings.

Among the 37 areas reporting moderate air quality, 10 areas have good air quality. API readings range from zero to 50, indicating good air quality, 51 to 100 as moderate, 101 to 200 as unhealthy, 201 to 300 as very unhealthy, and 301 and above as hazardous.
