Fury, Joshua finalise December 11 Cardiff clash

Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua are poised to confirm their heavyweight showdown for December 11 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff. According to boxing insider Dan Rafael, December 11 is now the favoured date after November 28 and December 4 were previously considered. Final permissions are said to be the sole obstacle between the two parties and an official confirmation, which could be announced by the end of the weekend. Fury is reportedly the last to give the green light, and a press conference is expected soon.

The bout will commence at 2am UK time, catering to Netflix and US broadcast schedules. This means the main event will take place early Saturday, December 12. Wembley Stadium was also entertained, but faced an 11pm curfew, while the Principality Stadium typically operates under a 10:30pm curfew. The Welsh Government is reportedly considering granting an exemption, pending approval.

Cardiff hotels are expected to sell out following the announcement. Despite initial consideration of Madison Square Garden in New York, the fight will not take place in America due to Joshua's UK contract stipulation. His promoter, Eddie Hearn, stated that Joshua "could have taken many millions more to do the fight in America" and that the camp "double downed on our principles" following strong social media support. White, the promoter of Joshua, accused Hearn of jeopardising the fight, but Hearn rejected the claim.
