Four men, a folding knife and RM30,000: Police probe alleged gang robbery near Sungai Petani courthouse

Sungai Petani, September 19 - A 22-year-old man reported being robbed of RM30,000 in company funds by four men near the Sungai Petani Court Complex on September 18, according to Kuala Muda District Police Chief ACP Hanyan Ramlan. The victim approached the suspects in a car and a struggle ensued, during which one of the suspects, armed with a folding knife, attempted to stab the victim.

The victim managed to disarm the attacker and stabbed him in return. The remaining suspects allegedly struck the victim, causing him to fall, before fleeing with the company money and one of his bank cards. The incident only came to light after the victim filed a police report the following day, as it had become viral on social media.

The case is being investigated under Sections 395/397 and 182 of the Penal Code. Hanyan also stated that further investigations are ongoing and urged witnesses to come forward. The victim has been sent to the hospital for a medical examination.
