Five hours, one lorry: Civil Defence, villagers pull together to bury 23-year-old, 250kg man in Rantau Panjang

KOTA BHARU, Sept 19 — A 250-kilogramme man's burial in Rantau Panjang required a special effort from the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) and the local community. Rantau Panjang APM officer Lt (PA) Mohd Fuad Ismail revealed that the Ministry of Health called upon the APM team to transport the 23-year-old deceased from Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital in Kubang Kerian to Masjid Al-Hidayah for the funeral prayer.

The man, who hailed from Kampung Gual Tinggi, faced an obesity-related condition. The APM team, comprising an officer, two personnel, and a lorry, completed the transportation task in a remarkable five hours, starting at 11.01 am and concluding at 3.56 pm. The villagers also played their part, aiding the burial arrangements.
