England crush Sri Lanka to top T20 world rankings

England secured an emphatic 8-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the third T20 international to complete a dominant 3-0 series sweep, re-establishing themselves as the number one-ranked side in the world. Batsmen Jos Buttler and Harry Brook led the English charge, with Buttler scoring an unbeaten 61 and Brook contributing 33 runs.

The hosts dismissed Sri Lanka for just 124 runs, while the English side chased down the target in just 9.4 overs. The pace attack, led by Jofra Archer and Jamie Overton, was instrumental in restricting Sri Lanka to a modest total. Overton's economical spell was particularly noteworthy, conceding just 15 runs in his four overs. England's fielding was also exceptional, with Liam Dawson providing the decisive catch to remove Eshan Malinga.

Despite Phil Salt and Jacob Bethell being absent due to injury, England's batting lineup remained potent.
